Inpatient pediatric care

No one wants a child to become seriously ill or injured. Since 1979, Plantation General Hospital has been caring for critically ill children in our pediatric unit. From the reassuring compassion of our doctors and staff to the pleasant, kid-friendly, Noah's Ark design of our 28-bed pediatric unit and eight-bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), we do everything possible to make you and your child feel comfortable during their stay.

What is a PICU?

PICU is short for pediatric intensive care unit. Like an ICU, a PICU has the necessary medical equipment to care for critically ill children.

The physicians that staff Plantation General Hospital’s PICU completed pediatric residencies after obtaining their medical degrees and then continued their education with more specialized training in pediatric critical care. You can rest assured that Plantation General's PICU staff has a level of proficiency beyond most other area facilities.

We offer a full range of diagnostic services including MRI, CT scan, nuclear imaging studies, and EEGs, as well as monitoring for intravenous or intramuscular medication administration.

Ask your child's pediatrician for a referral or call us for more details.

In an effort to ensure parents always have a say in their child’s care, we offer overnight accommodations for a parent or guardian so you can stay close to your child. We also provide a refrigerator and microwave for preparing your child's favorite snack, cable TV and video games.
