Pediatric-Friendly ER in Plantation Florida
Plantation General’s Children’s Center ER is staffed 24 hours a day by pediatricians, pediatric emergency physicians and pediatric emergency nurses. As one of the only dedicated pediatric ERs in the area, we care for all kids, from the tiniest of patients to teenagers.
Because most doctors' offices are closed in the evenings, the nearest emergency room is sometimes your child’s only choice at night when they need medical attention. Plantation General Hospital pediatric ER treats a variety of children's medical conditions, from ear infections and stomachaches to more serious conditions like broken bones and cuts that need stitches.
Pediatricians in Plantation General Hospital’s pediatric-friendly ER treat:
Some children that come to the emergency room are critically ill, and are admitted into our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The pediatric ER staff and the PICU pediatricians work closely together to make sure the transfer of care flows smoothly.
Short ER wait times
Our emergency room staff prides itself on getting patients the attention they need quickly, especially our smallest of patients. We understand that your child needs our full attention and they will get it after all the critically ill patients are treated first. If your child’s symptoms change while you are waiting, please notify a nurse for further evaluation.
Parents are encouraged to stay with their child at Plantation General Hospital
Parents are considered part of the care team at Plantation General Hospital. Our goal is to make things easier for children and their families, which includes providing parents with a hospital room where they can stay overnight while their child is in the PICU.
